Planning a ski trip during a pandemic poses new challenges, but don’t let those deter you from the trip of a lifetime! February is the best month for skiing in Colorado, and this year is no exception. Skiing is one of the best sports for social distanced outdoor activities, so a ski trip does not mean you can’t get outside during COVID.
Here’s a few tips to help you plan a ski trip in 2021:
Reservations: If the pandemic has taught us anything, it is the importance of planning ahead. Reservations at most ski resorts are now mandatory, but easy to make. The upside to the new reservation system is that lines tend to be shorter, and the resorts are less crowded.
Masks: Masks are required at most ski resorts, and at most places on the slopes. Be sure to bring an extra mask, but don’t worry if you lose it. Most resorts have extras on hand.
Social distancing: Many of Colorado’s ski resorts in 2021 are taking extra precautions with social distancing, including clear labels and signs, additional staff to help people navigate the resorts and slopes in a socially-distanced manner, and single-family dining options.
Food & Beverage services: The resorts have adapted to the rules and guidelines, and are following not only Colorado’s state guidance for outdoor activities during COVID, but also the local county rules. Be sure to check with the resort ahead of time to learn more about the specific dining options there. Many resorts have found creative ways to make enjoying a meal just as fun as pre-COVID times.
